The costume!

Ellie had two choices...owl or dinosaur...
She also picked out her own pumpkin jack from Wally World!

I know what it looks like....but she is honestly fascinated by the tail...
She's trying to show the camera the tail!

Scary Punkin!

After reading The Perky Little Pumpkin...
(Yes I know "perky" is a funny word, and the author's last name doesn't help any either, but let's be adults about it!)
...Ellie wanted a scary punkin!
Her definition of scary, after showing her lots of pictures, was a traditional one that smiled!
And it needed Mater teeth, Mater as in Cars...

She thought the pumpkin guts were gross...
 Helping daddy carve the pumpkin

The finished product!

Don't worry, it's an LED light inside of it....

This is Justin's creation!
I was a terrible picture taker and forgot to take some while he was carving!

I got a white  pumpkin from the patch!
When you cut into it, it smelt like a honeydew
AND it was less slimy than the traditional orange ones!
So cool!

My first non-traditional carving and first non-traditional colored pumpkin!!
And boy did my hand hurt after all that hard work!
But it was totally worth it!

 All of them together!

Finding the PERFECT Pumpkin

Shaake's Pumpkin Patch free admission, free hay ride, and about $0.40/lb for your pumpkin.
It's a fair price since we would have spent the same amount on pumpkins from Wally or another store!
There were so many pumpkins!
So many colors, shapes, and sizes!
There was also a separate patch of just baby pumpkins!

There were big ones....

Gourds....

 Fake looking pumpkins...

"Blue" pumpkins, Ellie thought they looked blue....

Warty pumpkins....

Ellie loved walking down the roads ahead of us

Found it!
The perfect Pumpkin Jack!
(more on "punkin jack" in a bit)

Waiting for the hayride back to the front of the field!

Excited!

And yet exhausted!

Mr. Dawson was excited to be 6ft tall! So a picture HAD to be taken!

Our new Halloween Tradition:
Go to a pumpkin patch and we each get our own pumpkin to design and carve!

To give you a better understanding about "Punkin Jack"
Ellie and I read this book, titled Pumpkin Jack
It's a cute little book about a boy who carves a pumpkin and named it Jack. When the pumpkin starts to rot he puts it in the garden, and then over a year he watches it grow new pumpkins from its seeds.
Ellie loved that book.

HAPPY FIRST OF OCTOBER!

Dear readers,

I've been slacking.
Terribly.
But I promise I will not let you down!
October is the beginning of a fantastic season with so many amazing things coming!
I will most definitely miss the balloons....
It's strange not seeing anything in the sky.
Yes, not even airplanes!
Okay okay, occasionally you see an airplane but it's not a commercial one.
It's a tiny one
Probably used to spray the fields....but I'm not even sure if that is true!
All I know we see things in the sky, other than birds, every two weeks.
It's weird.
Anyway!
October is going to be fantastic!
I will keep you updated with our life because I am POSITIVE you are interested!
So far nothing of note, other than Ellie being the biggest helper ever!
AND
Today she and I went grocery shopping and it was the best trip since she was a baby and would sleep in her carseat!
=)
I am serious.
And just to show you that everyone in this household is alive and well....
Some pictures for your entertainment!
