Future Baby Dawson

Don't read into that title!
There is no future baby Dawson yet!
Just getting prepared!
I started this blanket back in April and finished on Saturday!
It was my first crochet project and I think it turned out fantastically!
Now future baby Dawson can come anytime, we are ready!

Baseball and Painting

We went to the park when it was sunshiny a few days ago and walked through the baseball fields.
(There are four fields)
Ellie saw some boys practicing with their dads on the empty fields and thought it was cool.
The next day she brought her hat (a fireman hat backwards)
a bat (a pvc pipe from a marshmallow gun), and a ball (a miniature beach ball) to us and wanted to play.
It took us a minute to figure it out, since she had yet to learn it was called baseball, but we've had fun ever since!
Surprisingly....Ellie has swung and hit the ball a few times!
I think I truly might have a little tom boy on my hands!

Monday and Tuesday with the rain and tornado watch we stayed mostly indoors.
And an idea struck that HAD to be done!
Watercolor painting.
We headed over to hobby lobby to pick up some watercolors, watercolor paper, and canvas!
Then we had a blast!
Ellie and I tried our hand at abstract design using not only watercolors but Elmers clear glue and table salt!
Mr. Dawson did what he does best but did branch out and used the watercolors to color it in!

Donuts

I realize donuts aren't healthy....
These ones aren't either!
I saw a pic on pinterest, that when you clicked on it it took you no where.
So I observed the picture and experimented!

This is what happened:

Buy Pillsbury Grands Homestyle Buttermilk biscuits.
You don't want anything to do with the word "FLAKY"

Flatten the biscuits and cut a hole in the middle.
I used a lid off of a slim fast drink!
(yes I do realize the irony in that!)

Fill a pan with an inch or so with oil and fry...
Then set on a paper towel to drain excess oil

I forgot to take a picture of the next step I melted about 5TBS of butter in a bowl and made a mixture of cinnamon sugar in another bowl.
Once the donuts are not too hot to the touch dip both sides in the butter then into the cinnamon sugar bowl for a delicious coating.

We personally preferred the donut holes because you could just pop them in your mouth!
=)
Next trial will be with powder sugar covering....

ABC book for Ellie!

I used a design that Shutterfly has so it was totally easy!
I can't wait for it to come next week! Ellie's going to be thrilled!

Shutterfly photo books offer a wide range of artful designs and embellishments to choose from.

Ivory soap

On Pinterest there was this pin about ivory soap.
If you stick it in the microwave not only does it grow, but it becomes fluffy and you can tear it!
So true! It worked!
This is only half a bar!

In case you are thinking of using Dove soap, here is the experiment done back in 2008 with my roomie.

Doesn't work as well, but it sure made the apartment smell good!

(from experience we know that one works)
next time!
It was still "gross" and fun to squish!

A few pictures of my February creations!

This chain counts down the days to graduation...starting on February 2nd.
On the opposite side of the link is something to encourage Mr. Dawson to endure to the end!
=)
Such as a kiss, a foot rub, telling him what I love about him...you get the idea

This is a shirt I made for my brother!
It is a chinese translation of:
"Genuinely made in Taiwan"
I got a professor of chinese to translate it for me
Then I screen printed it on the shirt by hand!
It was surprisingly easy
just time consuming.

And there you have it!
February crafts in a nut shell!

We made this tonight and boy was it yummy!
If you try it add 2 slices of pepperoni and a bit more cheese and you have got it made!

I made these!

About 4 hours before we were supposed to leave for the airport I finished these!
Technically though, they aren't complete.
Ellie's dress is done, longer than I thought it would be, but still cute AND done.
Mine.
I would like to add tulle to the bottom too, but that may not happen for some time.

Maybe this coming sunday I will be able to get a better picture of Ellie's dress...with her standing!

Coolest thing ever....and saves $$$

So I had seen this on Pinterest and thought we would give it a try...
(It also lets us cross off #90 on our list!)

These are green onions that we used in cooking/
ones that we didn't want to toss cause we were going on vacation!

The tall green ones in the back are from 4 days prior to taking the picture and they looked just like the other short/cut stalks!
Now we can save $$ every time we need a green onion for a recipe!

Creations of the past few weeks, and Half of #90

First off...
The last week of September I went to Arizona for the day to sew with my mom
With her help I half created this puppy, and then finished it a week later at home!
He was dubbed "Leonard" by Mr. Dawson.

Next is a calzone we created....actually two of them. (His and Her's)

Lastly here is the First half of #90 (make two things off of Pinterest)
This is the link I followed
It took me WAY too long!
I had major problems with my first attempt too
I fixed the skirt in 40 before we had to leave for church.
Needless to say, if it takes you longer than an hour, something is probably wrong!
(please ignore my face in the first pic, I didn't know Mr. Dawson was taking the picture)
