Easter Traditions

We do things a little differently in our house, especially Easter!

On Friday we dye eggs.

This was Ellie's "first" time!

(We didn't get a chance to do it last year and she wouldn't remember her first Easter)

The next morning we do an egg hunt!

Mr. Dawson had to do some service Saturday morning so Ellie and I hid eggs for him, and a few for her!

As soon as he came home they went hunting!

Then we sent Ellie upstairs to watch a sing-a-long and we hid eggs for her.

She was fully aware that we hid eggs for her.

And she was so excited to find them all!

Every time she found one she would say, "Thank you for hiding my egg!"

Another tradition (that ended up not happening for Mr. Dawson this year) we get a new outfit for church. 

It can be a new dress, new shoes, a new shirt, a new skirt, a new tie....you get the idea.

Ellie and I got dresses.

She also got new shoes out of necessity!

The eggs were hidden high and low for Ellie!

Sunday is the day we focus completely on the true reason for Easter.

This was a new recipe that I tried called "The Cake"

It was DELICIOUS!!!

And addicting!

Fun Around the House

We love to dance in our house...

Ellie also loves to do puzzles, or rather tell mom to do them for her!

This Snow White puzzle, she has figured out how to try and match each piece and see if their edges can be put together!

If you ask her to make a specific face for you, she will!

It's very entertaining at meals or when we skype with family!

Pre-Spring Break

We had my family visit us the weekend before the weekend of our Spring Break

(It was my sisters' spring break)

And unfortunately I didn't take any pictures!!!

Then the weekend that our spring break started Mr. Dawson's parents came and visited us!

Two of the trips that I actually took pictures of were the Kansas City Zoo and Liberty Jail!

My cute little baby is growing up!

She likes to be called a big girl or big sister!

She is way excited for a new addition to join our family, "When mommy and daddy figure things out"

One day after her nap, I walked into her room to change her diaper and she had picked out a change of clothes and laid it on the floor:

She hasn't done it since....this happened back in February....guess she just didn't like what I had her originally wearing!

We made Calzones in February for dinner/family fun!

Ellie was so excited to help us out, and got a little messy too!

Valentines day:

 Her shirt says "My heart belongs to daddy"

Chilling on the bed watching a PBS show on my iPod.

She is getting so big and loves helping out as much as she can!

She is very familiar with the dryer

(we sit her on top of it for time-outs)

And she will also go and sit on the stairs whenever she knows that she has done something wrong!

(She has to sit on the stairs until she can be happy sometimes)

February 20th Snow Storm

We had a snow storm come in and we HAD to play in it....as well as shovel!

There was a TON of snow! This was the storm that knocked out power throughout the midwest!

I was lucky enough to purchase Ellie some snow boots the night before

(from the boys section, she didn't know any different)

These were my makeshift snow boots!

Believe it or not it worked decently well!

First impression:

She wanted to walk in the deep stuff that had no marks in it!
